If you work in Oakland, remember to take some time out to experience all that our community has to offer. Over 100 unique shops and restaurants are all conveniently located within a 5 minute walk from the campuses of University of Pittsburgh, Carlow University, Carnegie Mellon University and UPMC Hospital system. Beginning in June, get your produce shopping done at Oakland Farmers’ Market, every Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. along Sennott Street. Here you will find the best selection of Pennsylvania farm fresh produce and organic food products. To satisfy a craving for something sweet, walk to Dave and Andy’s Ice Cream on Atwood Street for some home made ice cream or for a lighter fare Rita’s Italian Ice along Fifth Avenue.
If you need to break away and experience a bit of nature, walk to the beautiful Schenley Plaza, hike or run thru the many trails of Schenley Park or relax amidst nature’s wonders at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

This activity is being funded by the Oakland Business Improvement District, the Pittsburgh Partnership for Neighborhood Development, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Special thanks to Pennsylvania State Senator Jay Costa.
